Abstract

Food is an important commodity for the Indonesian people, considering that food is a basic human need that must be met by the government and society together. In an effort to achieve food security to meet consumption needs that continue to grow over time, food supply is carried out by developing a food production system based on local resources, institutions and culture, developing food business system efficiency, developing food production technology, developing facilities. and food production infrastructure as well as maintaining and developing productive land. Apart from that, increasing food security is carried out by diversifying food by paying attention to local resources, institutions and culture through improving processing technology and food products as well as increasing public awareness to consume a variety of foods with balanced nutrition. Food intake that is quite important is staple food such as rice and tubers, while food that is no less important is horticultural products, in this case vegetables and fruit. The availability of current, relevant and complete data and information regarding food crop agriculture and horticulture is very much needed by various parties, both in the government, private sector and academic circles in the context of planning/formulating, monitoring and evaluating the results of a policy. With the availability of this data, it is hoped that food policy will be more focused and in line with the needs of the Indonesian people
